Bride’s Side
WENDY NGUYENGA | Matron of Honor
Wendy is the infamous elder sister who gave Sandy grief and manipulated her while they were growing up. Others can attest that Wendy fulfilled her older sibling duties - from demanding Sandy to fetch a glass of water every night before they went to sleep to convincing her that unicorns truly exist and live in London. Though in Wendy’s defense, how can you not want to convince someone who is willing to believe so easily! And yes, despite her torturing, Sandy loves her still and asked Wendy to be her Matron of Honor. Wendy is Sandy’s voice of reason and role model. She has encouraged Sandy to do every bit that she could dream of – traveling the world to living in metropolitan cities to just following her heart at every beat. It was over 15 years ago when Sandy witnessed Wendy fall in love her husband. Sandy naturally hoped she would be as lucky one day. And it seems Wendy thinks so - in her words “They are the perfect pair!”MICHELLE ALAMA-NGUYEN | Bridesmaid
Michelle and Sandy have know each other since Austin Parkway Elementary in 4th Grade. They did not share homerooms together, but they knew of each other. It was not until First Colony Middle School when they really hung out and started writing messages in ‘coded’ alphabets (created by Michelle) about…well boys! They’re friendship has continued to flourish through high school and even college as roommates at Texas in Austin. You will surely catch them singing a sappy pop tune or crying over a romantic comedy together. Michelle is Sandy’s other voice of reason and clarity in the fog. And just a little over two years ago, Sandy stood by Michelle as she watched her get married. It’s now Michelle’s turn to return the favor! This time neither one is writing coded messages about boys. It’s all very clear and true!-
SANDRA POON | Bridesmaid
Sandra and Sandy were meant to be close friends. Just look at their names! And yes, one time someone actually asked if they were sisters. Their answer – “Yes, our parents named us the same names.” Though they are that close, so the idea of sisters is not too far off. Sandra moved from Alief to Sugar Land in middle school and was indoctrinated with the ‘coded’ alphabets created by Michelle. The two grew up from similar pasts that have easily led them to rely on each other as close friends, travel buddies, and college roommates. Sandra and Sandy have stood side by side from getting their first job together at Marshalls and upgrading to Lady Footlocker to backpacking through Europe post-college. Til this day, they dream and plot their next adventures together. Sandy is overjoyed to have Sandra stand by her again, as she embarks on an adventure no one could have planned better. ANNA BECHTOL | Bridesmaid
Anna and Sandy met in New York City while serving drinks at a makeshift artists gallery a few summers ago. While serving, they would dance and people watch 'hipsterdom' unfold in front of their curious eyes. Their friendship quickly turned into an open forum for deep discussions about zombies, vampires and boys – in that exact order. Anna finds Sandy’s dancing and laughter infectious, while Sandy finds Anna’s creativity and positivity a motto to live by. They are a part of a Crafting Night, previously called the Brooklyn Sweatshop Night, as well as a part of a close-knit group of friends who often plan random summer beach days to wintery mountain escapes. And even though Anna hates dancing, it's inevitable she'll start dancing around Sandy. Therefore, Sandy plans to do it again the day of!JANET LINA | Bridesmaid
Janet and Sandy should have met back at University of Texas, but it just didn't happen until Janet moved to New York City. There’s a theory that they actually met back in Austin a few years prior through another friend, but it has never been confirmed. After a night of karaoke with friends, they discovered they both worked at architectural firms downtown! Though Janet is a licensed architect, Sandy always admired the architectural world. This commonality started a series of lunches that led to an awesome friendship. The two could go on for hours about life and people on the steps of Federal Hall. Janet was also a contributor and supporter of the couple’s beginnings AND Sandy’s career into the interior architectural world. Now Sandy is nearing the end of her studies, along with her single life. She is delighted to have Janet there to begin her next chapter in life.
Groom’s Side
JOSH VINEY | Best Man
Josh has been friends with Jeff since meeting on the bus during their freshman year in college - way back in 1995. During their time at BC, Jeff helped Josh survive numerous close calls with IHOP, poor studying habits, high speed chases, and stolen car stereos. Since then, They've miraculously been able to stay close friends - despite being roommates, business partners, and one very heated disagreement about the Citi logo.
Over the years their friendship has grown to the point where not a few coworkers and mutual friends claim they argue like an old married couple, and it's hard to deny. Luckily, Jeff met Sandy before it was too late, and Josh couldn't be happier. Not only has his best friend fallen in love with a beautiful, intelligent, amazing woman, but was able to get a great apartment in Manhattan complete with a washer/dryer out of it.NATE MCGOVERN | Groomsman
Nate's friendship with Jeff goes back 28 years to first grade, when Jeff and his family moved to the U.S. from Hong Kong. They were placed in the same class and quickly became best buds. From that time through the end of high school Nate probably spent as much time with Jeff as he did with his own family. Needless to say, Jeff has been a huge part of my life and he's thrilled to be standing beside him as Jeff starts this next phase of his life with Sandy.KEN HSU | Groomsman
Ken first met Jeff in the BC 'minority' dorm, Duchesne. They were tucked in the basement of the dorm which is 4 miles from the main campus stashed away in the farthest corner of the Law School, far far from the rest of society and likely observed closely as a social experiment. From there they hit it off. They began their journey as roommates on and off campus and have been through a lot together. From summer jobs at the BC Media Lab to girlfriends with questionable mental states, with occasional stalkers sprinkled here and there for seasoning. Through it all, They have remained close friends. Jeff is known for connecting people and helping his friends whenever there's an opportunity. Ken is thankful to have had the opportunity to connect with Jeff as his friend.KEIYU KAMATANI I Groomsman
Fresh out of college, Keiyu haphazardly moved to NY, blindly hoping to find a job, any job that would provide a visa, an absurdly high wage and a great career path. Through a series of fortunate events, Keiyu ended up working with Jeff, landed the visa and started an 11 year career in design (6 of which were in NY with Jeff).
Throughout those years in NY, Keiyu and Jeff became known as a couple of sorts, bickering and pushing each others' buttons yet increasingly relying on each other for personal and work related advice. The kindness of Jeff and his family over the years has not been forgotten by Keiyu, and today he is honored and happy to be a part of Sandy and Jeff's special day.
